Don Piergiacomo Gazzola, the parish priest of Livraga, Italy, supported the recent performance of the transvestite Francesco Esposito under his stage name and costume as Tachi Pierina ("drag queen"), in the church square, reports IlGiorno.it (August 21).
The evening, called "New Identity", was organized by a group called "San Fermo Committee". Families with children were also invited. About 150 people attended.
Don Gazzola described the show as "clean, very quiet". He doesn't want to make a fuss about the scandal because "there was nothing wrong": "It was a normal August evening where everyone went home happy."
Francesco Esposito thanked the priest on social media: "You embraced and allowed the performance in the church square, ensuring the success of the show."
And, "May you be an example to those who are instead prejudiced against our art and those who boycott our evenings." Source
