Pope Prays For Victims of Moscow Terror attack......

Pope prays for victims of terrorist attack in Moscow

Pope Francis offers his prayers for the victims of Friday’s terrorist attack on a concert hall in the Russian capital of Moscow, and invites everyone to pray for “martyred Ukraine” as the country faces heavy Russian bombardment of critical infrastructure.

By Devin Watkins

“I assure my prayers for the victims of the vile terrorist attack carried out the other evening in Moscow.” Pope Francis offered that assurance as he prayed the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square at the conclusion of Mass on Palm Sunday. “May the Lord welcome them in His peace and comfort their families,” he added. The Pope also prayed that God might instill peace in the hearts of all people. “May He convert the hearts of those who plan, organize, and carry out these inhuman actions, which offend God, who commanded: ‘Thou shalt not kill’,” he said.

Attack on concern hall

At least 4 armed men entered the Crocus City concert hall in Moscow on Friday evening, opening fire and killing at least 133 people and injuring dozens others. The attackers also set off explosive devices that set the venue ablaze and left it a smoldering ruin. An affiliate of the so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, a claim confirmed by US intelligence officials. Russian authorities have arrested 11 people in connection with the terrorist attack, including the 4 gunmen.

Prayers for ‘martyred Ukraine’

In his Angelus address, Pope Francis also prayed for everyone suffering due to war, especially in “martyred Ukraine”. He said “so many people are without electricity due to intense attacks against infrastructure, which, besides causing death and suffering, raise the risk of an even-greater humanitarian catastrophe.” “Please,” he added, “let us not forget martyred Ukraine, and let us also think of Gaza which is suffering greatly, along with other places of war.”

Holy Week close to the Lord

The Pope then invited Christians to enter Holy Week by entrusting our journey toward Easter to the Blessed Virgin Mary. “Let us learn from her to draw near to Jesus in these days of Holy Week, so that we may arrive at the joy of the Resurrection.” Source

Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapses after being struck by cargo ship; 6 people still missing

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed early Tuesday after a support column was hit by a large container ship that had lost power, sending vehicles and people into the Patapsco River, authorities said. Six people remain unaccounted for, Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld said in a mid-morning news conference. Two other people were rescued from the water. All eight people were part of a construction crew that was filling potholes on the bridge at the time, Wiedefeld said. Jennifer Homendy, the chair of the National Transportation Security Board, said Tuesday afternoon that the workers were employed by local company Brawner Builders. One of the rescued workers was unhurt. The other was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center and has been discharged, according to CBS station WJZ. Officials have emphasized that they are still conducting search and rescue operations, with the Coast Guard assisting. The Coast Guard told CBS News that the search and rescue operation will continue into the night, with no plans to stop at sundown. "This is very much still a search and rescue mission. We are still actively looking for survivors," Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said in a Tuesday afternoon news conference. "There is not a single resource we will hold off on deploying ... to make sure that this search and rescue operation is carried out to its fullest intent." Moore declared a state of emergency shortly after the collapse, saying in a statement that "we are working with an interagency team to quickly deploy federal resources from the Biden Administration. We are thankful for the brave men and women who are carrying out efforts to rescue those involved and pray for everyone's safety." The ship — the Singapore-flagged Dali — was operated by charter vessel company Synergy Marine Group and was chartered by Maersk, carrying Maersk customers' cargo, the companies said. There were 22 crew members, including two pilots, aboard the ship, according to a statement from Synergy. All 22 crew members are Indian nationals. Synergy said it had activated its incident response team and is cooperating with state and federal officials. Homendy said that the NTSB is communicating with Singaporean officials as part of their investigation. Source

Rescue crews search for survivors after ship destroys bridge in Baltimore

The bridge, which is nearly two kilometers long, serves as a critical artery for vehicle traffic in and around the Port of Baltimore, one of the busiest in the United States. Rescue crews are still looking for people who may have fallen into a river in Baltimore, Maryland, after a ship in the Patapsco River hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed. The incident happened Tuesday morning just before 1:30 a.m. local time, 6:30am in Rome. The bridge, built in 1977, spans about 8,500 feet, or nearly two kilometers. It serves as a critical artery for vehicle traffic in and around the Port of Baltimore, one of the busiest ports in the United States. It employs 15,000 workers and generates about $3.3 billion in revenue. Baltimore is also home to the oldest diocese in the United States. Maryland Governor Wes Moore declared a state of emergency. U.S. Coast Guard personnel joined Baltimore Fire Department crews in the search for possible victims. Emergency units expected to spend the rest of the day looking for survivors. One person rescued in the water was seriously injured and taken to a local trauma center. Another person recovered from the river refused treatment at the scene. The ship, a Singapore-flagged vessel called the “Dali,” had just left the harbor after loading up with contents for trade. The container ship hit a support pillar for the bridge, which set off a chain of events with led to the collapse of the bridge. Smoke was billowing from the craft, but it did not sink, and all of the crew members have been accounted for. Unknown in the hours immediately following the collapse is how many cars may have been traveling on the bridge, and how many workers were on the bridge making overnight repairs. At a pre-dawn news conference, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said, “We have to first and foremost pray for all of those who are impacted, those families, and pray for our first responders and thank them, all of them, [for] working together — city, state, local — to make sure that we are working through this tragedy." The bridge is named after Francis Scott Key, who wrote the poem “The Star-Spangled Banner” – now the U.S. national anthem – after witnessing a battle in the Patapsco River between British and U.S. forces during the War of 1812. Demon Pazuzu

“In the year 1864, Lucifer together with a large number of demons will be unloosed from hell; they will put an end to faith little by little, even in those dedicated to God. They will blind them in such a way, that, unless they are blessed with a special grace, these people will take on the spirit of these angels of hell; several religious institutions will lose all faith and will lose many souls. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)

Several will abandon the faith, and a great number of priests and members of religious orders will break away from the true religion; among these people there will even be bishops. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)
