Mark Shea VERSUS Douay-Rheims Bible On The Doubt of John the Baptist

Now when John had heard in prison the works of Christ: sending two of his disciples he said to him: Art thou he that art to come, or look we for another? And Jesus making answer said to them: Go and relate to John what you have heard and seen. The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead rise again, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he that shall not be scandalized in me.And when they went their way Mt.xi.

This Gospel is read on the Second Sunday in Advent.....

Shea is a little late with his unnecessary and confusing commentary:

So John, being only flesh and blood, started to doubt Source

What?

John never doubted.

Shea is an idiot.

Here read the footnote set down by Roman Catholics who were actually persecuted for their faith:

Art thou he] John himself doubted not, for he baptized him and gave great testimonies of him before: Jo.1. But because his disciples knew him not, not esteemed of him so much as of John their own Master, therefore did he send them unto Christ, that by occasion of Christ answer he might the better instruct them what he was, and so make them Christs disciples, preferring them to a better Master. Douay-Rheims Bible Annotations Mt.xi 1582

Got that?

John never doubted for a minute.

Here to make clear from the Last Gospel read at the end of Latin Mass:

P: The Lord be with you.

S: And with thy spirit.

P: The beginning of the holy Gospel, according to St. John.

P: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was made nothing that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men: and the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. That was the true light which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave great power to become the sons of God: to them that believe in His name: who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And (Here all genuflect) THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, AND DWELT AMONG US, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

S: Thanks be to God.

Again, in case you missed it - on John who was sent from God to give testimony of Jesus Christ:

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. That was the true light which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.

Maybe Shea should start attending the Latin Mass and save us all from his foolish nonsense.....

Comments

  1. Mark Shea is a gluttonous moron whose blog has descended into an orgy of onanism over guns, Trump and the NRA. His idea of a hero is the bisexual pervert Emma Gonzalez. He is the Steve Skojec of "liberal" Catholics. Also, he bans people from commenting on his stupid blog when they point out his nonsense, and surrounds himself with atheist, homosexual and pro-abort commentators to form a masturbatory little echo chamber. Idiot.

  2. Apparently that is not working too well for Mark Shea as he is now begging for money on his blog...
