Muslim Female and Atheist Male?
UPDATE: Police release name Maya Elizabeth McKinney
One of the two students who opened fire on a school in Denver has been identified as 18-year-old Devon Erickson. An 18-year-old boy was killed and eight other students were injured when gunfire erupted at STEM School Highlands Ranch on Tuesday afternoon at 1.53pm local time. Police confirmed that the shooting was carried out by two people, one adult male and one juvenile. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office confirmed Erickson is the adult shooter. Officials are expected to release more information at a press conference at 6am Wednesday morning. Source
The sheriff described suspect two as a “young person… a small young person.” Thus, he said, at first authorities thought the suspect was a male. Court records list the suspect as Maya McKinney, but McKinney’s social media pages are under the name Alec McKinney. “We originally thought the juvenile was a mal…

Sri Lanka: Police Find Weapons Cache, 47 Swords in Mosque Raid
Police in Sri Lanka conducted a series of raids Friday on suspected jihadists, finding in one mosque in Colombo’s suburb of Slave Island a stockpile of 47 swords alongside counterfeit military uniforms, a suicide bomber jacket, and machetes.
In a nationwide address, President Maithripala Sirisena revealed that police had arrested around 70 individuals in connection with jihadist activity since the Easter Sunday bombings that killed over 250 people and have identified 140 people who may have been involved in the attacks.
The Sri Lankan outlet Lankadeepa published images from the Slave Island mosque where police found the weapons, revealing that police found the swords in question under the bed of the head imam. Source

“The great chastisement will come, because men will not be converted; yet it is only their conversion that can hinder these scourges. God will begin to strike men by inflicting lighter punishments in order to open their eyes; then He will stop, or may repeat His former warnings to give place for repentance. But sinners will not avail themselves of these opportunities; He will, in consequence, send more severe castigations, anxious to move sinners to repentance, but all in vain. Finally, the obduracy of sinners shall draw upon their heads the greatest and most terrible calamities. Mélanie
“We are all guilty! Penance is not done, and sin increases daily. Those who should come forward to do good are retained by fear. Evil is great. A moderate punishment serves only to irritate the spirits, because …
Should Good Catholics Read Far-Right Catholic Blogs?
by John Paul Shimek
Last weekend, Ines San Martin of Crux reported that Pope Francis “has vowed in a new interview that he won’t be slowed down by resistance from ‘ultra-conservatives’ in the Church who ‘say no to everything,’ insisting, ‘I’m going ahead without looking over my shoulder.’”
Good Catholics everywhere cheered the words of the Holy Father, the Successor of St. Peter.
You see, they readily understood that a handful of far-right ideologues do not get to determine the course of Christ’s Church. It doesn’t matter if those ideologues represent semi-schismatic enclaves or write popular blogs. Christ the Lord has empowered the Church’s Magisterium in communion with the Successor of St. Peter to lead the People of God. Not them.
Nonetheless, sometimes it can be instructive to read these far-right ideologues. Doing so, reveals some things worth noting about the signs of the times; and, taking stock of those things…
Paris will burn. Our Lady of La Salette 19 Sept. 1846 (Published by Mélanie 1879)
It has been 172 years since the appearance of the Virgin of La Salette to two children in the village of La Salette-Fallavaux, in France.
The event took place on September 19, 1846, when Melanie (15) and Maximino (11) saw how a "beautiful lady" appeared in a light more resplendent than the sun, in tears.
According to the story, the woman, the Virgin Mary, cries for the impiety prevailing in society and urges them to renounce two grave sins. In addition, it makes them two great revelations about tragedies that will affect the world, and it is one of them that is present today.
The Venezuelan priest José Palmar announced one of the prophecies given by the children to Pope Pius IX in a document delivered in 1851.
According to the texts, a catastrophic event that would shake the Earth would be the fires that would affect the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, and the Basilica of St. Peter …
ASOS launches modest fashion range with Muslim model showing off hijabs and dresses
ASOS is the latest brand to embrace modest fashion after H&M made the move last year. The retailer said the modest clothing industry is worth over $240 billion (£184m) and wants to make it more mainstream. The Verona Collection – which sells in Macy’s stores in the U.S – has been shown off on a Muslim model who tweeted the news. Asha Mohamud, a mental health and beauty blogger, became a model for the brand, wearing hijabs and long dresses on the site. For those who don’t know, the term modest fashion describes clothing that is on-trend yet relatively covered. It can include hijabs and burqas as well as tops, trousers, cardigans and dresses that feature a modest cut. Asha was applauded, as well as ASOS, on social media for making leaps in modest fashion representation. Founded by fashion photographer Lisa Vogl and fashion designer Alaa Ammuss, who struggled to find modest fashion at an affordable p…
