Four men used forged documents to obtain the ordination as deacons in the Diocese of Lokoja, Nigeria, on July 12, CisaNewsAfrica.com reports (July 23). Bishop Martin Dada Abejide Olorunmolu of Lokoja was deceived by a certain Stephen Obioma Nwaigwe. He claimed to be the Superior General of a Congregation of Paraclete Missionaries and asked for the ordination of the candidates. His forged documents showed, among other things, the establishment of the congregation as an institute of the Diocese of Morogoro, Tanzania, in 2016. He also claimed to run various social projects, including a hospital in Nigeria. However, the order does not exist. The faithful noticed that one of the candidates had previously pretended to be a priest and had presided at a thus invalid Eucharist. The diocese will now "seek appropriate canonical steps to resolve this unfortunate situation". Measures will be taken to ensure that such events do not recur in the future. Source
